Dress for Success’ annual Something to Share Gala in New York City is always incredibly heartfelt and moving. Each year, Tory and I look forward to attending the Fundraiser to celebrate the outstanding work done by the organization and the achievements of their inspiring Success Ambassadors who have become successful, empowered professional women.
At this year’s Gala, held on April 11, 2013, I was especially proud to present the “lia sophia Toast to Our Mothers” honor on behalf of lia sophia with Dress for Success CEO, Joi Gordon. Two spectacular women, Jodi Sparks, mother of Actress/Singer Jordin Sparks and Sharon Meade, mother of Robin Meade, host of HLN news, were recognized for the time and commitment they took to raise successful children.
We were thrilled to share this special evening with several lia sophia Advisors who were affected by Hurricane Sandy, our VP of Merchandising, Ann Wooten, and Red Carpet Collection Designer Dani Stahl. Fellow supporters including cosmetics mogul Bobbi Brown, fashion designer David Meister, and NBC Today Show host Al Roker with wife Deborah Roberts, were among the 1,000 attendees who came out to celebrate Dress for Success.
One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the lovely Jordin Sparks, who affectionately teared up when she introduced her mother on stage and then proceeded to serenade her with an impromptu song, “This is My Now.” Jordin was as gracious as she is talented, making a point of telling me how much she LOVES lia sophia while she happily took pictures with attending guests, including our Advisors.
Congratulations Dress for Success! It was truly an inspiring night.
