Celebrating family, friends and joy on Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving because it’s all about getting together with family and friends—it’s purely about friendship, family and food with absolutely no gifts. To me, that sets it apart from most other holidays. I love the simplicity of it. In our family, Thanksgiving starts on Wednesday night. We all trek over to where the balloons are being blown up for the Macy’s Day Parade. They are so immense up close and seeing them come to life is even more fun I think than the real parade. On Thanksgiving day, we celebrate at my mother’s house. We all contribute to the meal—I am the pie lady. Every year, we include a few friends or friends of friends who aren’t with their own families and they join us. That makes the day even more special because we all realize how lucky we are to be able to share a wonderful meal together.

From our family to yours, we wish you a joyous Thanksgiving.
